Since climate change currently is a big topic around the world, the German federal government made several efforts to support a sustainable economy. One of these efforts is the subventions regarding the investment in electric vehicles, from which not only the companies, but also the employees will benefit. For example, the vehicle tax is remitted for the first 10 years after buying the car and after that, the tax is notably lower than the tax for gasoline-powered cars. In addition to that, the taxed benefit from the private use of an electric company car is currently only half as much as it would be for a non-electric car.
