Jan van Wijngaarden shares his perspective on 15 years at the helm.

Solid4U Accountants & Tax Advisors is a Dutch member firm of the IAPA, with more than fifteen years of experience in the local and international accounting, tax, and M&A market.
Located in the Netherlands (Breda and Amsterdam), the corporate finance unit of Solid4U, JM Corporate Finance, celebrated its 15-year anniversary last year (2024). Founder Jan van Wijngaarden wanted to do things differently after working as a Corporate Finance partner in a medium-sized accounting firm. Longing for more freedom and entrepreneurship, he decided to start his own business. “At our firm, we dare to be different, with a human touch and our extensive experience, we always assess whether the timing is right and dare to give bold advice.”
We are locally and internationally oriented, and we have an extensive network of other advisors, lawyers, and tax specialists whom we can consult to provide the best possible solution and services for our clients.
Over the years the team has grown to more than 15 experienced advisors and we are able to provide all sorts of corporate finance related services such as, valuation, due diligence, buy- and/or sell side advice, MBI and MBO, impairment test, employee participation, negotiation support, searching for candidate buyers and sellers a.s.o.
We are not hesitant to hire talent; several juniors are following internal training and are being coached to become trusted advisors, but we also invest in hiring more experienced professionals to further shape the anticipated growth of the company. Recently, the company moved to an all-new office providing ample space (500m2 on the first floor) for future growth.
Apart from all the positive client feedback, in October 2024, the company received a prestigious award from the Dutch Financial Times for being one of the fastest-growing companies in the south of the Netherlands. This award is a great recognition for all the hard work over the recent years and is something we are proud of every day. This is called “the FD Gazelle Award”.
The current M&A market in the Netherlands is booming. Up to 30% of entrepreneurs consider selling their business, even 80% expect to do so in the coming 10 years. Although the appetite is there, entrepreneurs are sometimes hesitant to do so as they are insecure about the value of their business, the process, and the costs thereof. The duration of a successful sales process might take 6-12 months, and therefore our advisors are looking for a long-term business relationship with our clients. Although the sale is ultimately a business decision, for a lot of entrepreneur,s it is more than that. It is their life’s work and soul, and this automatically brings in emotion as well. We dare to present our clients with honest and bold advice on whether they are exit-ready or not. In our view, timing is everything. If not yet exit-ready, we propose a “prepare for sale” plan, hence value creation will take place during the coming years.
