Adeptus: Embracing Opportunity in a Changing Business Landscape

Against a backdrop of regulatory change, growing international investment, and rapid technological advancement, Adeptus continues to strengthen its position through strategic growth, industry engagement, thoughtful innovation, and active collaboration across the IAPA Association.

Industry and Policy Update:

The accounting profession continues to navigate significant tax and regulatory changes in 2026. New federal tax provisions are creating additional planning and compliance considerations for businesses, while the IRS continues to expand its digital tools for taxpayers and accounting professionals.

Cross-border activity also remains an important area to watch. Foreign direct investment in the United States increased by $266 billion in 2025, bringing the total investment position to $5.86 trillion, with Europe accounting for much of this increase. For firms serving internationally active businesses, continued investment creates opportunities to support clients as they navigate U.S. tax and reporting requirements.

Member & Chapter Highlights:

Adeptus has been recognised as one of the Best Companies to Work for in New York, New Jersey, Southern California, and Maryland for 2026.

  • Adeptus recently joined Current, a national partnership of premier accounting and advisory firms.
  • Coming soon: Adeptus is launching Adeptus Premier, highlighting the firm’s business management team and its work with clients in this space.

Research & Thought Leadership:

As AI continues to generate debate, accounting firms are considering what the technology means for the profession and where it can provide genuine value.

At Adeptus, we are exploring how AI can simplify routine work and improve existing processes. The goal is not to overhaul how we operate, but to identify practical applications that give our teams more time to focus on higher-value work.

“We embrace AI with open arms when it comes to minimising the time it takes to do mundane tasks,” says Michael Hoffman, COO. “Our approach has been to use it wisely, as the models are imperfect, and regulations are incredibly important as we reimagine how we do business.”

That measured approach is particularly important in accounting. AI can work quickly, but speed alone is not the objective. The information it produces must still be reviewed with the same level of care expected throughout the profession.

“Technology has always changed the way accounting firms operate,” says Howard Krant, CEO and Managing Partner. “AI is another step in that evolution. What matters is that we stay curious about what it can do while being thoughtful about how we use it.”

At Adeptus, we see this as a learning process. Some applications will prove valuable, while others may not. As the technology develops, our use of it will evolve accordingly.

AI is unlikely to change the fundamental responsibility accounting professionals have to their clients. What it can change is how some of the work is completed. Used effectively, it can support a more efficient way of working while allowing our professionals to remain focused on the work that matters most.

Cross-Regional Collaboration:

Adeptus continues to build relationships across the IAPA network through member referrals. We have both received and responded to referral opportunities, creating new connections between our professionals and firms across the association.
