Attached is a letter from Ozgur Demirdoven informing you of his resignation as CEO from IAPA. His resignation is effective from 31st May 2020. Ozgur has worked hard since he was appointed as CEO on 1 June 2018 and the International Board wish to place on record our thanks for all his efforts over the past 2 years.
During conversations in February, it was mutually agreed by Ozgur and the International Board that Ozgur would resign, and that he would instead concentrate on his own company in Turkey. IAPA will now refocus its efforts on being a truly membership led association, with the emphasis on good quality members.
We, the International Board, have decided to appoint Martin Clapson as our CEO. Martin has been our Global Chairman since November 2018 after previously being our Acting Global Chairman from December 2016 to November 2018 and most importantly was also our Acting CEO from December 2016 to May 2018. During Martin’s period as Acting CEO, he not only ensured IAPA’s survival in difficult circumstances, he also handed over the CEO position to Ozgur with IAPA in a positive and financially good position.
Martin has started fulfilling the IAPA CEO responsibilities and he will fulfil these whilst he continues to be Managing Director of Price Bailey. He has been working on the hand over with Ozgur and last week he was in Farnham working with Sharon and Tameka at the Centre.
The International Board are confident that we can work well with Martin and that under his leadership we believe the future of IAPA is in safe and stable hands, with a refocus on high quality members who work together in a trusted and mutually beneficial environment where all members collaborate, contribute and feel valued.
The Board and Martin have acknowledged that for continued best practice and for corporate governance, IAPA will need a Global Chairman - the Board does not foresee the role of CEO and Chairman being fulfilled by the one person.
Martin has therefore immediately ceased in his position of Global Chairman upon his appointment as CEO.
The Board will appoint a successor Chairman and we will keep you informed in this regard.
The appointment of a new Global Chairman will be elected at the next AGM.
If you have any questions please contact any member of the International Board.
But most importantly, please keep safe and take care.
